What is Fluoromount G?

Fluoromount-G™ is a water-soluble, non-fluorescing compound for slides mounted after a staining procedure having an aqueous final step. Mounting slides with Fluoromount-G™ may reduce fluorochrome quenching during analysis of slides by fluorescence microscopy.

How long does Fluoromount G take to dry?

Allow Fluoromount to dry for 30–45 minutes at room temperature.

How do you use Fluoromount?

Instructions For Use Remove one slide at a time from aqueous buffer, add one (1) drop of Fluoromount-GT directly to cell prep, mount cover slip and press gently with a gauze sponge to remove excess mounting medium and to seal the cover slip. Allow mounted preps to air-dry for five (5) minutes before examination.

How much does media mounting cost?

Use ONLY about 6-8ul of mounting media per 18mm coverslip. The solution should slowly spread to the edges after you place the coverslip onto the media. If you add too much it will leak out the sides and prevent the nail polish from sealing the coverslip to the slide.

How do you unmount slides?

Soak the slides in xylene until the coverslips are removed. Rinse off residual medium from the tissue sections in 2 changes of fresh xylene; followed by descending grades of alcohol starting from an absolute alcohol (2 changes) ending in 95% (1 change), followed by DI water.

What is the best mounting medium?

There are a number of antioxidants (the antifade component) in a variety of solutions commercially available. Vectashield is probably the most widely used, and is fine for most applications.

What are some examples of mounting media?

Mounting media can be classified as:

  • Liquid mounting media, such as aqueous glycerol and lactophenol-based fluid media.
  • Solidifying (or semi-solid) media, including natural and synthetic gums and resins.
  • Water-soluble mounting media (e.g., glycerol-gelatin and gum-chloral)

How do you remount slides?

What is the function of fluoromount GT?

Fluoromount-GT is a water-soluble, non-fluorescing compound for slides mounted after a staining procedure having an aqueous final step. Mounting slides with Fluoromount-GT may reduce fluorochrome quenching during analysis of slides by fluorescence microscopy.

What is the refractive index of fluoromount G mounting medium?

This medium is supplied as a 1X stock solution containing sodium azide. The refractive index of Fluoromount-G Mounting Medium is reported to be ∼1.4, and it is best used when the thickness of the specimen is less than 10 µm.

What is fluoromount-G mounting medium used for?

It is water soluble and used to mount slides in which the final step of staining is aqueous. It forms a semi-permanent seal for prolonged storage of slides at 2-8°C. Fluoromount-G Mounting Medium does not fluoresce and may reduce the amount of fluorochrome quenching and photobleaching during fluorescence microscopy.

What is the preservative in fluoromount GT?

Fluoromount-GT is supplied as a 25 ml solution containing 0.1% sodium azide as preservative; store at room temperature. Fluoromount™ is an aqueous based mounting medium and can easily be removed by soaking the slides in deionized water: Place the slide in a beaker full of deionized water on a magnetic stirrer.
