How many CPD hours does RIBA have?
35 hours
As a RIBA Chartered Member, you need to undertake and record at least 35 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) every year. You need to get at least 20 of these 35 hours from the ten mandatory RIBA core curriculum CPD topics. This CPD can be structured or informal, and come from any source.
What counts as RIBA CPD?
What counts as CPD? Any relevant learning activity, whether structured or informal, can count on your record. Structured CPD is classroom based: whether face to face, distance, or online. It will be taught by someone who gives you learning aims and outcomes.

Does ARB require CPD?

Do architects need to do CPD?
As in most professions, doing continuing professional development (CPD) is obligatory for all RIBA Chartered Members wherever you are and whatever you do. CPD helps you stay up to date, competent, professional, capable and resilient as an architect, also enabling you to learn new skills and specialisms.
How many hours of CPD are recommended annually?
A minimum 35 hours’ CPD is required annually. At least 21 hours must be structured CPD. Each activity must be at least 30 minutes in duration (different activities to address a common development need can be combined).
How do you log CPD?
When recording CPD you should include the following information:

- Date.
- Subject area.
- Method of learning.
- Number of hours.
- Points, if awarded.
- Learning outcome.
How many hours of CPD do architects need?
Chartered members are obliged to do the following each year: Undertake a minimum of 35 hours of CPD to maintain competence. This equates to about 45 minutes per week. Undertake 20 of the required 35 hours of CPD from the ten topics in the RIBA CPD Core Curriculum (two hours per topic per year).

Despite the public outcries and petitions, the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Law or RA 10912 is here to stay. The 2016 law, sponsored by Senator Antonio F. Trillanes IV, requires 45 CPD points from architecture and engineering professionals for the renewal of their licenses every three years.

Contact your professional body or regulator to check what your minimum CPD points for the year are. It’s possible that these requirements can change over time so it’s best to check. Some employers and organisations stipulate how you can earn your CPD points for the year.
