Does stuttering affect jobs?
Results indicated that more than 70% of people who stutter agreed that stuttering decreases one’s chances of being hired or promoted. More than 33% of people who stutter believed stuttering interferes with their job performance, and 20% had actually turned down a job or promotion because of their stuttering.
Can you enlist with a stutter?
Any speech impediment, stammering, stuttering or other receptive or expressive language disorder that may significantly interfere with the ability to repeat commands is disqualifying.
Is it OK to stutter in interview?
It might be your first time interviewing a candidate who stutters, but if you keep these few points in mind, the interview should proceed smoothly and unbiasedly. Since stuttering is NOT a reflection of the person’s abilities and intelligence, you should definitely give the new candidate a fair chance at the interview.

Can a stammer be a lawyer?
Yes. One of our judges was an accomplished defense attorney before taking the bench. Also many areas of the law don’t require much public speaking. There are many excellent corporate/legislative lawyers who never set foot in a court room.
What will disqualify me from the Air Force?
There are age, citizenship, physical, education, height/weight, criminal record, medical, and drug history standards that can exclude you from joining the military.
Can active duty military take antidepressants?
Are antidepressants disqualifying? ( Response 1: Antidepressants are disqualifying for one year after you stop taking them. You must stop with your doctor’s advice; do not stop on your own. These medications often have to be reduced slowly to lower side effects and reduce risk of relapse.
