About First Night In the summer of 1990, Artsplosure’s Board of Directors committed to creating a special community New Year’s Eve celebration in downtown. First Night Raleigh was born, under the direction of Ann Smith, joining other cities worldwide in a joyful, family-oriented New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts.

Parking is free in the PNC Arena lots, North Carolina State Fairgrounds Bunn Field lots along Trinity Road, and Carter-Finley Stadium lots.

The fireworks will be launched along Trinity Road on land owned by North Carolina State University. It will be directly adjacent to the Close-King Indoor Practice Facility.
